  • Monday:
    • Warm Up: Write a conversation between 2 students who have just met each other.
    • Opening: Students will line up out in the hall and enter the class after speaking to instructor in Spanish. (Review of how to introduce themselves)
    • Work Session –
      • Instruction (I do): Introduction to numbers 1-30 and how to form a question using Cuantos(as). (Numbers Song & PowerPoint)
      • Guided Practice (We do): Develop questions with students using the word Cuantos(as) to ask how many of different things there are in the classroom.
      • Independent Practice (You do): Students will develop 3 questions on their own.
    • Closing: Students will ask and respond to each other’s newly developed questions
  • Tuesday:
    • Warm Up: Ask 3 Students who are sitting near you how to write their name in Spanish.
    • Opening: Students will line up out in the hall and enter the class after speaking to instructor in Spanish. (review of Spanish numbers, Students will be asked to tell 5 numbers between 1-30)
    • Work Session –
      • Instruction (I do): Introduction to numbers 30-100 and how to form a question using Cuantos(as). (Numbers Song & PowerPoint)
      • Guided Practice (We do): Develop Math problems that must be written and answered in Spanish.
      • Independent Practice (You do): Students will create math problems on their own to quiz a partner. Answers must equal a number between 30 & 100.
    • Closing: Ticket out the door. Students will be asked random number between 30 and 100 to say in Spanish.
  • Wednesday:
    • Warm Up: Write the following numbers in Spanish (38, 45, 57, 62, 71, 87, 93, 100)
    • Opening: Students will line up out in the hall and enter the class after speaking to instructor in Spanish. (review of Spanish numbers, Students will be asked to tell 5 numbers between 30 – 100)
    • Work Session –
      • Instruction (I do): Introduction to numbers 100 – 1,000,000 and how to form a question using Cuantos(as). (Numbers Song & PowerPoint), Introduction to process and procedures of listening activities.
      • Guided Practice (We do): Practice of quizzing each other by developing our own listening quizzes.
      • Independent Practice (You do): Students will develop their own quizzes.
    • Closing: Random students will be called upon to quiz the class on a number. (In Spanish)
  • Thursday:
    • Warm Up: Write the following numbers in Spanish. (1.231, 43.547, 683.231, 1.768.109)
    • Opening: Pop Quiz on numbers (Formative)
    • Work Session –
      • Instruction (I do): Introduction to Spanish Speaking countries and Map
      • Guided Practice (We do): Discuss how maps should be labeled.
      • Independent Practice (You do): Label your own map of Spanish speaking countries.
    • Closing: Name 5 speaking countries that you now know.
  • Friday:
    • Warm Up: 3-2-1. Write 3 Spanish countries that you did not know yesterday. Write 2 Spanish speaking countries you already knew about. Write 1 country you would like to visit and why.
    • Opening: N/A (Pre-Assessment today)
    • Work Session –
      • Instruction (I do): Pre-Assessment
      • Guided Practice (We do): Pre-Assessment
      • Independent Practice (You do): Pre-Assessment
    • Closing: Continue working on Spanish speaking country map.

  • Closing: Introduction to Spanish Songs (Bailando, Me Voy Enamoradao)
  • Tuesday:
    • Warm Up: Give 5 things you would like to be able to do when you leave Spanish 1. (List & Discuss)
    • Opening: Students will line up in the hall to learn procedure and routine of entering class by speaking Spanish with instructor. (Today will include verbal agreement between student and teacher and ask what Spanish words the student already knows)
    • Work Session –
      • Instruction (I do): Alphabet introduction (Handout and Power Point)
      • Guided Practice (We do): Alphabet rehearsal & Song (At least 2 times)
      • Independent Practice (You do): Practice with a partner asking the letter of the alphabet
    • Closing: Students will play hangman using Spanish letters
  • Wednesday:
    • Warm Up: What Spanish letters do you find to be most difficult to pronounce. (List and Discuss with a partner) What Spanish letters do you find to be easiest to pronounce. Whats your favorite letter? Whats your least favorite letter.
    • Opening: Formative assessment- Students will line up in the hall to practice Spanish letter with instructor. (Any alphabet letter will be asked)
    • Work Session –
      • Instruction (I do): Introduce the phrase ¿Cómo se escribe…..? (How do you spell)
      • Guided Practice (We do): Use ¿Cómo se escribe….? In context Alphabet rehersal & Song (At least 2 times)
      • Independent Practice (You do): Students practice using ¿Cómo se escribe….? with a partner (Spell 5 words a piece)
    • Closing: Compare and contrast the Spanish and English Alphabet. (Ticket our the door)
  • Thursday:
    • Warm Up: Practice alphabet with partner for alphabt Quiz Friday (Reflect on what letters I need to practice for Quiz Friday)
    • Opening: : Formative assessment- Students will line up in the hall to practice Spanish letter with instructor. (Students will recite ALphabet to the instructor in Spanish)
    • Work Session –
      • Instruction (I do): Overview of how to use Spanish-English DIctonaries
      • Guided Practice (We do): Introductory Vocab Graphic Organizer. Students will use Spanish English-Dictonaries to define knew terms. Students will then attempt to write a conversation with vocab. (With timed talking points ever 5 minutes) (What is a Cognate?, What is a false Cognate?)
      • Independent Practice (You do): Introductory Vocab Graphic Organizer (Students will independently write what the similarities and difference they see between English and Spanish.
    • Closing: Think-pair-share- What do I need to do to be successful in this class (Study habits, what seems most important to learn in class)

    • Warm Up: Practice alphabet with partner for alphabet Quiz today
    • Opening: : Formative assessment- Students will line up in the hall to practice introduction conversation with instructor. (Hola, ¿Cómo estás?, ¿Cómo te llamas?

Conversations and Numbers Week of 1/23/17

 

This week we will continue to work on introductions conversations. Students will continue to write conversations introducing themselves to students and speaking. Students are also making presentations of these conversations for a grade. Will also learn how to count to 100 this week and begin working on telling time.

Week of 11/14/16

This week starts are practicing for their presentations that will be happening Wednesday through Thursday. They will record themselves practicing so they can hear how they sound and make any corrections using http://www.spanishdict.com to correct any pronunciation errors. Presentations will run Wednesday to Friday and then we begin break 11/19/16-11/27/16

The Week of 10/17/16

This week we will be learning how to talk about la familia. Students will learn vocab to speak about their families. How to describe people in their familes and how to talk about what every does in their family. Also this week we have Picture day on Tuesday 10/18/16. 10th graders will be taking the PSAT on Wednesday 10/18/16, Juniors will be taking the ASVAB on 10/18/16, Seniors will have a College and Career Fair on 10/18/16, and Freshman will be participating in Reality U on 10/18/16.

La Semana De 10/10/16-10/14/16

This week classes will be reviewing all materials from Unit 2. This includes AR Verbs, Estar, Prepositions, Questions, Numbers higher than 31, Subject pronouns, and Gustar. Class will be completing activities on vhlccentral.com, if they are not completed in class they can be completed at home. They will also be completing partnered speaking assigned and playing review games such as Kahoot. Their test will be this Friday 10/14/16
